Frederick Gough - A Bridge Too Far

A Bridge Too Far

In April 1974, Gough said that in retrospect it was a mistake for the Conservative Party to have forced Sir Alec Douglas-Home out of the leadership in 1965. He lived to see the release of the film A Bridge Too Far, which he described as " ducks and drakes with historical facts in order to dish up an extravaganza fit for the American massed cinema market".

Famous quotes containing the word bridge:

It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself,
Ever unreeling them, ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you O my soul where you stand,
Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them,
Till the bridge you will need be form’d, till the ductile anchor hold,
Till the gossamer thread you fling catch somewhere, O, my soul.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
