Frederick was married to Margaret Beckley for 58 years. The couple had 4 children, 16 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. The couple founded the Frederick S. Upton Foundation in 1954, giving millions of dollars to their communities. Grandson Fred Upton was elected to the United States House of Representatives and, in the 112th Congress, was chairperson of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Great granddaughter Kate Upton is an American model and actress known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
