Taylor is a first cousin of NFL wide receiver Santonio Holmes.
Taylor's son, Kelvin, is a rising senior at Glades Day School in Palm Beach County, Florida, and received interest from the football coaching staffs at the University of Florida and the University of Alabama before committing to Florida on February 18, 2012. The younger Taylor is rated as a four-star recruit, and is considered to be one of the best running back prospects in the 2013 prep class. Through the end of his 2011 junior season, he has already eclipsed the Florida high school career rushing record set by Emmitt Smith in 1986.
