Life
Fred Duesenberg was born in Lippe, Germany and immigrated to the United States with his parents and family when he was eight years old. The family settled in Rockford, Iowa. He was actually born as Friedrich Simon Düsenberg, and not with the middle name of Samuel as most sources say. Samuel was the middle name of his brother, August Duesenberg.

Famous quotes containing the word life:
“I have heard a good many pretend that they are going to die; or that they have died, for aught that I know. Nonsense! Ill defy them to do it. They have nt got life enough in them.... Only half a dozen or so have died since the world began.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course
Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot
Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturers horse
Scratches its innocent behind on a tree.”
—W.H. (Wystan Hugh)
“The man Shelley, in very truth, is not entirely sane, and Shelleys poetry is not entirely sane either. The Shelley of actual life is a vision of beauty and radiance, indeed, but availing nothing, effecting nothing. And in poetry, no less than in life, he is a beautiful and ineffectual angel, beating in the void his luminous wings in vain.”
—Matthew Arnold (18221888)
