Fred Duesenberg - Life

Life

Fred Duesenberg was born in Lippe, Germany and immigrated to the United States with his parents and family when he was eight years old. The family settled in Rockford, Iowa. He was actually born as Friedrich Simon Düsenberg, and not with the middle name of Samuel as most sources say. Samuel was the middle name of his brother, August Duesenberg.

Famous quotes containing the word life:

The sailor is frankness, the landsman is finesse. Life is not a game with the sailor, demanding the long head—no intricate game of chess where few moves are made in straight-forwardness and ends are attained by indirection, an oblique, tedious, barren game hardly worth that poor candle burnt out in playing it.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

Mortals are easily tempted to pinch the life out of their neighbour’s buzzing glory, and think that such killing is no murder.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

All that a pacifist can undertake—but it is a very great deal—is to refuse to kill, injure or otherwise cause suffering to another human creature, and untiringly to order his life by the rule of love though others may be captured by hate.
    Vera Brittain (1896–1970)
