Fraser Heights Secondary School

Fraser Heights Secondary School

Fraser Heights Secondary is a public high school in Surrey, British Columbia part of School District 36 Surrey. Around the school is a vast park area, a large field as well as the Fraser Heights Recreation Centre. The school is known for its high academic reputation in various subjects as well as its music and sports programs which have also been high ranking. When the school first opened, it was only designed for 1000 people, but currently there are around 1700 students attending Fraser Heights. The school's student-to-size ratio has been one of the biggest criticisms towards the School District, who claimed that this was of utmost importance yet have not taken action over the years. Possible expansion plans have been rejected by the school board but in Fall of 2008 the school issued a petition demanding the increase in size of the school, which subsequently failed.

Famous quotes containing the words heights, secondary and/or school:

Men go out to admire the heights of mountains, the huge waves of the sea, the broadest spans of rivers, the circle of ocean, the revolutions of stars, and leave themselves behind.
    St. Augustine (354–430)

Cloud-clown, blue painter, sun as horn,
    Hill-scholar, man that never is,
    The bad-bespoken lacker,
    Ancestor of Narcissus, prince
Of the secondary men. There are no rocks
    And stones, only this imager.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

The child to be concerned about is the one who is actively unhappy, [in school].... In the long run, a child’s emotional development has a far greater impact on his life than his school performance or the curriculum’s richness, so it is wise to do everything possible to change a situation in which a child is suffering excessively.
    Dorothy H. Cohen (20th century)
