Frank Van Dun - Tobacco Lobby

Tobacco Lobby

The Belgian newspaper Le Soir reported on 8 June, 2012, that between 1988 and 2000, Belgian scientists Van Dun and Marcel Javeau were paid by the tobacco lobby, through the group 'Associates for Research in the Science of Enjoyment' (ARISE). Van Dun responded in the Belgian Eos-magazine that while indeed he gave two presentations for ARISE in which he presented his visions, he wasn't paid to do so and he never was a member of ARISE. However, the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library contains a document that lists Van Dun as an "associate".

Famous quotes containing the words tobacco and/or lobby:

My excuse for not lecturing against the use of tobacco is, that I never chewed it; that is a penalty which reformed tobacco-chewers have to pay; though there are things enough I have chewed which I could lecture against.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The indifferent clerk he knowing what was going to happen
The lobby zombies they knowing what
The whistling elevator man he knowing
    The winking bellboy knowing
Everybody knowing! I’d be almost inclined not to do anything!
    Gregory Corso (b. 1930)
