Famous quotes containing the words personal, appearance and/or activities:

I am thankful to God for this approval of the people. But while deeply grateful for this mark of their confidence in me, if I know my heart, my gratitude is free from any taint of personal triumph. I do not impugn the motives of any one opposed to me. It is no pleasure to me to triumph over any one.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

The aim of science is to apprehend this purely intelligible world as a thing in itself, an object which is what it is independently of all thinking, and thus antithetical to the sensible world.... The world of thought is the universal, the timeless and spaceless, the absolutely necessary, whereas the world of sense is the contingent, the changing and moving appearance which somehow indicates or symbolizes it.
    —R.G. (Robin George)

The interpretation of dreams is the royal road to a knowledge of the unconscious activities of the mind.
    Sigmund Freud (1856–1939)
