Mystery Science Theater 3000

From the second through sixth seasons of Mystery Science Theater 3000's time on Comedy Central, Conniff played one of the "mads" (short for "mad scientists") next to Trace Beaulieu. Famous quotes containing the words science and/or theater:

My position is a naturalistic one; I see philosophy not as an a priori propaedeutic or groundwork for science, but as continuous with science. I see philosophy and science as in the same boat—a boat which, to revert to Neurath’s figure as I so often do, we can rebuild only at sea while staying afloat in it. There is no external vantage point, no first philosophy.
Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)

We all know that the theater and every play that comes to Broadway have within themselves, like the human being, the seed of self-destruction and the certainty of death. The thing is to see how long the theater, the play, and the human being can last in spite of themselves.
    James Thurber (1894–1961)
