Famous quotes containing the word life:

Bourgeois society is infected by monomania: the monomania of accounting. For it, the only thing that has value is what can be counted in francs and centimes. It never hesitates to sacrifice human life to figures which look well on paper, such as national budgets or industrial balance sheets.
    Simone Weil (1909–1943)

The exclusive in fashionable life does not see that he excludes himself from enjoyment, in the attempt to appropriate it.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

a great man’s memory may outlive his life half a year.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
