Famous quotes containing the words fortune, head, ecological and/or reserve:

There are certainly not so many men of large fortune in the world, as there are pretty women to deserve them.
    Jane Austen (1775–1817)

The stone often recoils on the head of the thrower.
    Elizabeth I (1533–1603)

Could it not be that just at the moment masculinity has brought us to the brink of nuclear destruction or ecological suicide, women are beginning to rise in response to the Mother’s call to save her planet and create instead the next stage of evolution? Do we dare demand less?
    Jane Alpert (b. 1947)

I understood that all the material of a literary work was in my past life, I understood that I had acquired it in the midst of frivolous amusements, in idleness, in tenderness and in pain, stored up by me without my divining its destination or even its survival, as the seed has in reserve all the ingredients which will nourish the plant.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
