Famous quotes containing the word life:

The more the development of late capitalism renders obsolete or at least suspect the real possibilities of self, self- fulfillment and actualization, the more they are emphasized as if they could spring to life through an act of will alone.
    Richard Dean Rosen (b. 1949)

I felt more than ever the necessity of my mission. But I went home out of spirits, I hardly know why. I must work by myself all life long.
    Elizabeth Blackwell (1821–1910)

All my life I believed I knew something. But then one strange day came when I realized that I knew nothing, yes, I knew nothing. And so words became void of meaning ... I have arrived too late at ultimate uncertainty.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)
