Geography
Forel-sur-Lucens has an area, as of 2009, of 2.83 square kilometers (1.09 sq mi). Of this area, 2.16 km2 (0.83 sq mi) or 76.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.53 km2 (0.20 sq mi) or 18.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.16 km2 (0.062 sq mi) or 5.7% is settled (buildings or roads).
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.5%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 57.2% is used for growing crops and 17.7% is pastures, while 1.4% is used for orchards or vine crops.
The municipality was part of the Moudon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Forel-sur-Lucens became part of the new district of Broye-Vully.
The municipality is located on a high plateau above the Broye valley. It consists of the villages of Forel-Dessus and Forel-Dessous.
