Forbidden Hollywood

Forbidden Hollywood is the parody show taped live in Hollywood created by Gerard Alessandrini, who also created the ever-popular Forbidden Broadway. But instead of spoofing Broadway, FH spoofed popular films such as Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, The Wizard of Oz, and Aladdin and the songs featured in them (or else other songs in order to comment on the film). It also spoofs stars like Tom Hanks, Keanu Reeves, Barbra Streisand, Ann-Margret, and Whoopi Goldberg.

In addition to the show, Alessandrini released an album to accompany it in 1995. The album was released by Varèse Sarabande Records, Inc., was recorded live in Hollywood, and features the original cast members, many of whom also have starred in Forbidden Broadway. Gerard Alessandrini wrote the "new" parody lyrics, while Phillip George (Associate director & choreographer) helped out writing many of the sketches.

Famous quotes containing the words forbidden and/or hollywood:

... there is a particular propensity in the world for people, wherever they appear in great numbers, to permit themselves collectively everything that would be forbidden them individually.
    Robert Musil (1880–1942)

That’s one thing I like about Hollywood. The writer is there revealed in his ultimate corruption. He asks no praise, because his praise comes to him in the form of a salary check. In Hollywood the average writer is not young, not honest, not brave, and a bit overdressed. But he is darn good company, which book writers as a rule are not. He is better than what he writes. Most book writers are not as good.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
