Folksingers 'Round Harvard Square

Folksingers 'Round Harvard Square is the first album featuring Joan Baez. Joan Baez recorded this album in a basement together with Bill Wood and Ted Alevizos. Only seven of the eighteen tracks on this album were solos by Baez. In 1963, an unauthorized reissue of the album was released on Squire Records as The Best of Joan Baez (minus the four tracks that did not contain Baez' vocals), but was withdrawn after Baez took legal action against it (by which time the album had already made the top-fifty on the U.S. albums charts).

Famous quotes containing the words harvard and/or square:

The slime pool that the dog drowned in . . .
    A drunk vomiting up a teaspoon of bile . . .
Washing the polio off the grapes when I was ten . . .
    A Harvard book bag in Rome . . .
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

If magistrates had true justice, and if physicians had the true art of healing, they would have no occasion for square caps; the majesty of these sciences would of itself be venerable enough. But having only imaginary knowledge, they must employ those silly tools that strike the imagination with which they have to deal; and thereby, in fact, they inspire respect.
    Blaise Pascal (1623–1662)
