Folding Carton - Measuring

Measuring

Size is important for obvious reasons when trying to fit a product into a folding carton. It is important to know how to properly read and write measurements according to the industry standard. There are three dimensions to the basic folding carton; Length (L), width (W), and depth (D). In written form the dimensions should appear in that order (L x W x D). Imagine the carton in 3-dimensional space with the tuck opening away from you. The length would be in the direction of the X-axis, the width is the dimension of the Z-axis, and the depth is the dimension of the Y-axis. When determining the size be sure to measure from the middle of the score. To ensure accuracy, measurements should be taken to at least 1/16th of an inch. Famous quotes containing the word measuring:

By measuring individual human worth, the novelist reveals the full enormity of the State’s crime when it sets out to crush that individuality.
    Ian McEwan (b. 1938)

... there is no way of measuring the damage to a society when a whole texture of humanity is kept from realizing its own power, when the woman architect who might have reinvented our cities sits barely literate in a semilegal sweatshop on the Texas- Mexican border, when women who should be founding colleges must work their entire lives as domestics ...
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

Man always made, and still makes, grotesque blunders in selecting and measuring forces, taken at random from the heap, but he never made a mistake in the value he set on the whole, which he symbolized as unity and worshipped as God. To this day, his attitude towards it has never changed, though science can no longer give to force a name.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)
