Foaming Agent

A foaming agent is a material that facilitates formation of foam. The term refers to either:

  • A surfactant, which, when present in small amounts, reduces surface tension of a liquid (reduces the work needed to create the foam) or increases its colloidal stability by inhibiting coalescence of bubbles or
  • A blowing agent, which is the gas that forms the gaseous part of the foam.

Famous quotes containing the words foaming and/or agent:

I see wars, horrible wars, and the Tiber foaming with much blood.
Virgil [Publius Vergilius Maro] (70–19 B.C.)

The agent never receipts his bill, puts his hat on and bows himself out. He stays around forever, not only for as long as you can write anything that anyone will buy, but as long as anyone will buy any portion of any right to anything that you ever did write. He just takes ten per cent of your life.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
