Fle3 - Origin of The Name

Origin of The Name

The abbreviation FLE comes from the words Future Learning Environment. The number 3 in the name refers to the number of times the software has been built from scratch.

When Fle3 was released in 2002 the developers were claiming that the name comes from "Fle3 is a Learning Environment", with intertextual reference to the name GNU (GNU is Not Unix).
