Flat Cap

A flat cap, Tam, Bocce Hat, Dai cap, Golf cap, Ivy cap, Scally cap, "Grandpa Harrity cap" or, in Scotland, Bunnet is a rounded men's or women's cap with a small stiff brim in front. Cloths used to make the cap include wool, tweed (most common), and cotton. Less common materials may include leather. Cord flat caps are also worn in various colours. The inside of the cap is usually lined with silk for comfort and warmth.

Famous quotes containing the words flat and/or cap:

The windy springs and the blazing summers, one after another, had enriched and mellowed that flat tableland; all the human effort that had gone into it was coming back in long, sweeping lines of fertility. The changes seemed beautiful and harmonious to me; it was like watching the growth of a great man or of a great idea. I recognized every tree and sandbank and rugged draw. I found that I remembered the conformation of the land as one remembers the modelling of human faces.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)

I put a Phrygian cap on the old dictionary.
    Victor Hugo (1802–1885)
