FIT Issue Management

FIT is an enterprise-wide issue management platform created by Chris Justus and developed by the team at Alcea Technologies. Web-based, the FIT system is built on Java and can be installed on any platform including Windows, Unix and Mac webservers. It features a proprietary flat file database, but can also connect to any JDBC compliant database such as Oracle, MySQL and MS-SQL with the optional database module. The system installs with a web server in about 5 minutes with basic configuration taking less than an hour.

The platform allows administrators to create and manage multiple integrated systems that Alcea calls "Tracks". This means, for example, that from the central FIT platform, you can have a system that is used as a help desk, one to track internal projects, one for customer email management and another to track IT equipment inventory, as each track can use a separate template, skin, set of users, etc. There is also a module to manage the testing process that integrates with the BugTrack template.

Out of the box, the system can be installed and configured in less than an hour and used to track a number of items in different ways depending on what template is used. The system is also designed to allow advanced users to edit and create custom fields to capture information the way they wish, use groups to manage security within the system (allowing groups to only view certain fields), manage workflow (automating how issues move through the system), customize the look (use your logo, colours, layout of system) and you can also use the rank setting to prioritize issues. The LDAP module allows you to authenticate against a managed list such as Active Directory.

Famous quotes containing the words fit, issue and/or management:

The ability to think straight, some knowledge of the past, some vision of the future, some skill to do useful service, some urge to fit that service into the well-being of the community,—these are the most vital things education must try to produce.
    Virginia Crocheron Gildersleeve (1877–1965)

Because of these convictions, I made a personal decision in the 1964 Presidential campaign to make education a fundamental issue and to put it high on the nation’s agenda. I proposed to act on my belief that regardless of a family’s financial condition, education should be available to every child in the United States—as much education as he could absorb.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

    The Management Area of Cherokee
    National Forest, interested in fish,
Has mapped Tellico and Bald Rivers
And North River, with the tributaries
Brookshire Branch and Sugar Cove Creed:
A fishy map for facile fishery....
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)
