2006 Expansion
In 2006, First Colony Mall underwent an expansion that added an open-air lifestyle center wing in front of the main entrance. Several higher-end stores established in the mall relocated to the new addition, while others opened their first locations in Fort Bend County. Additionally, one retailer, Barnes and Noble, relocated from an adjacent shopping center. Additionally, the front of the lifestyle center addition is also home to a courtyard of restaurants including The Cheesecake Factory, Grimaldi's Pizzeria and Mia Bella Trattoria. Since the lifestyle wing was built on the front parking lot, parking garages were built in front of the Dillard's and Macy's stores to alleviate parking problems created by the new addition. Additionally, traffic lights were installed at the intersection of Town Center Boulevard North and the mall's ring road to alleviate extreme traffic problems at the main entrance.

Famous quotes containing the word expansion:
“The fundamental steps of expansion that will open a person, over time, to the full flowering of his or her individuality are the same for both genders. But men and women are rarely in the same place struggling with the same questions at the same age.”
—Gail Sheehy (20th century)
