Finland in The Eurovision Dance Contest

Finland won the first Eurovision Dance Contest in 2007. Jussi Väänänen and Katja Koukkula were chosen to represent the country on 25 August 2007 in a national preselection. Finland was the last country to decide whom to send to the contest, the contest taking place only a week after the selection process. The couple performed a Rumba and Paso Doble. Finland won after scoring 132 points. All other countries awarded Finland points, three of which gave 12 points. Finland withdrew from the planned Eurovision Dance Contest in 2009. That contest was later cancelled.

Famous quotes containing the words dance and/or contest:

Not fat but the greatest possible suppleness and strength is what a good dancer wants from his nourishment—and I could not even guess what the spirit of a philosopher might wish to be more than a good dancer. For dance is his ideal, and also his art, and finally also his only piety, his “service to God.”
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Theologians should not be ashamed to admit that they cannot enter a contest with such antagonists [the sceptics], and that they do not want to expose the Gospel truths to such an attack. The ship of Jesus Christ is not made for sailing on this stormy sea, but for taking shelter from this tempest in the haven of faith.
    Pierre Bayle (1647–1706)
