Several scholars have noted that the Final Solution and the Holocaust began in Lithuania after the German invasion. Dina Porat wrote: "The Final Solution - the systematic overall physical extermination of Jewish communities one after the other - began in Lithuania." Konrad Kweit wrote: "Lithuanian Jews were among the first victims of the Holocaust The Germans carried out the mass executions signaling the beginning of the "Final Solution."
