Group 4: Hand To Hand (press Lift Types)

  • Press lift: The skaters skate facing each other, with the man skating backwards. They clasp hands and the man pushes forward and up, "pressing" her into the lift. The man and the woman face different directions in the air.
  • Hand to hand loop lift: The skaters are facing in the same direction. The man raises the woman above his head and she remains facing the same direction in the air while in a sitting position with her hands behind her. The take off for this is the back outside edge, like the loop jump.
  • Loop press/back press lift

Famous quotes containing the words group, hand and/or lift:

Caprice, independence and rebellion, which are opposed to the social order, are essential to the good health of an ethnic group. We shall measure the good health of this group by the number of its delinquents. Nothing is more immobilizing than the spirit of deference.
    Jean Dubuffet (1901–1985)

Wild Bill was indulging in his favorite pastime of a friendly game of cards in the old No. 10 saloon. For the second time in his career, he was sitting with his back to an open door. Jack McCall walked in, shot him through the back of the head, and rushed from the place, only to be captured shortly afterward. Wild Bill’s dead hand held aces and eights, and from that time on this has been known in the West as “the dead man’s hand.”
State of South Dakota, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my
    help.
Bible: Hebrew Psalm CXXI (l. CXXI, 1)
