FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualification (OFC)

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup qualifiers for the Oceania Football Confederation, also known as the OFC Beach Soccer Championship is the main championship for beach soccer in Oceania. The first championship was held in 2006 in Moorea, Tahiti, as was the 2009 tournament and 2011 tournaments. The 2007 tournament was moved to Auckland, New Zealand. Only the winner of the competition qualifies for the following FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. The Solomon Islands are the most successful nation having dominated the championships, winning three of the four that have taken place.

In 2008, the Solomon Islands were automatically selected for the World Cup as they were nominated as the best nation in the region due to the World Cup being re-scheduled by FIFA who brought the competition forward from November to July meaning that OFC had no time to host the championship, hence no qualifiers were held.

Now that the World Cup takes place every two years, so do the qualifiers which started with the qualifiers for the 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Famous quotes containing the words beach, soccer, world and/or cup:

    The beach was crowded,
    people tossed like ripe corn,
    buttering themselves as they went
and on the dunes thousands of crabs,
    moved their yellow eyes.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

Our first line of defense in raising children with values is modeling good behavior ourselves. This is critical. How will our kids learn tolerance for others if our hearts are filled with hate? Learn compassion if we are indifferent? Perceive academics as important if soccer practice is a higher priority than homework?
    Fred G. Gosman (20th century)

I have defeated them all.... I was left with some money to battle with the world when quite young, and at the present time have much to feel proud of.... The Lord gave me talent, and I know I have done good with it.... For my brains have made me quite independent and without the help of any man.
Harriet A. Brown, U.S. inventor and educator. As quoted in Feminine Ingenuity, ch. 8, by Anne L. MacDonald (1992)

If you desire to drain to the dregs the fullest cup of scorn and hatred that a fellow human being can pour out for you, let a young mother hear you call dear baby “it.”
    Jerome K. Jerome (1859–1927)
