Field Goal (American and Canadian Football) - Blocked Field Goals

Blocked Field Goals

Occasionally, the defense will succeed in blocking a field goal. If a blocked field goal is in or behind the neutral zone, it is treated like a fumble and can be advanced by either team. Beyond the neutral zone, a blocked kick is treated like a punt and can be advanced only by the defense, unless a defensive player fumbles the ball, after which an offensive player can advance it.

Famous quotes containing the words blocked, field and/or goals:

Now, honestly: if a large group of ... demonstrators blocked the entrances to St. Patrick’s Cathedral every Sunday for years, making it impossible for worshipers to get inside the church without someone escorting them through screaming crowds, wouldn’t some judge rule that those protesters could keep protesting, but behind police lines and out of the doorways?
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1953)

The snow had begun in the gloaming,
    And busily all the night
Had been heaping field and highway
With a silence deep and white.
    James Russell Lowell (1819–1891)

If people would forget about utopia! When rationalism destroyed heaven and decided to set it up here on earth, that most terrible of all goals entered human ambition. It was clear there’d be no end to what people would be made to suffer for it.
    Nadine Gordimer (b. 1923)
