Fibre Channel Over Ethernet

Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) is an encapsulation of Fibre Channel frames over Ethernet networks. This allows Fibre Channel to use 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks (or higher speeds) while preserving the Fibre Channel protocol. The specification, supported by a large number of network and storage vendors, is part of the International Committee for Information Technology Standards T11 FC-BB-5 standard.

Famous quotes containing the words fibre and/or channel:

The gods are partial to no era, but steadily shines their light in the heavens, while the eye of the beholder is turned to stone. There was but the sun and the eye from the first. The ages have not added a new ray to the one, nor altered a fibre of the other.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Wherever there is a channel for water, there is a road for the canoe.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
