Change of Format
In 2012 it was announced that the league would increase the number of clubs participating in the competition from 10 to 16 due to the disbandment of the South Australian top tier Super League. The new competition would include the 10 participating teams from the 2012 season and the addition 6 teams would be made up of the 6 bottom placed teams from the 2012 Premier League table.
