Ferguson Big Board

Ferguson Big Board

The Big Board (1980) and Big Board II (1982) were Z80 based single-board computers designed by Jim Ferguson. They provided a complete CP/M compatible computer system on a single printed circuit board, including CPU, memory, disk drive interface, keyboard and video monitor interface. The printed circuit board was sized so as to allow attachment to an 8 inch floppy disk drive. The Big Board II added a hard disk drive interface, enhancements to system speed (4 MHz vs. 2.5 MHz) and enhancements to the terminal interface.

One version of the Big Board was used in the Xerox 820.

Famous quotes containing the words ferguson, big and/or board:

Personally I think we’re over-specialized. Why it’s getting so we have experts who concentrate only on the lower section of a specimen’s left ear.
Martin Berkeley, and Jack Arnold. Prof. Clete Ferguson (John Agar)

The greatest felony in the news business today is to be behind, or to miss a big story. So speed and quantity substitute for thoroughness and quality, for accuracy and context. The pressure to compete, the fear somebody else will make the splash first, creates a frenzied environment in which a blizzard of information is presented and serious questions may not be raised.
    Carl Bernstein (b. 1944)

Don’t tell me what delusion he entertains regarding God, or what mountebank he follows in politics, or what he springs from, or what he submits to from his wife. Simply tell me how he makes his living. It is the safest and surest of all known tests. A man who gets his board and lodging on this ball in an ignominious way is inevitably an ignominious man.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)
