Female Figures in The Quran - The Woman Who Complained To Muhammad

The Woman Who Complained To Muhammad

The Qur'an speaks of her in surah 58 (Al-Mujadila), her name being Khoulah bint Thalabah.

"God has indeed heard (and accepted) the statement of the woman who pleads with thee concerning her husband and carries her complaint (in prayer) to God: and God (always) hears the arguments between both of you: for God hears and sees (all things)." — Qur'an, Sura 58 (Al-Mujadila), ayat 1

The verses that follow are to restore her rights (as well as those of any other woman in her position), when the husband does a specific pre-Islamic tradition.

Famous quotes containing the words woman and/or complained:

    Helene Deutsch (1884–1982)

I heard of one man who complained that somebody had stolen his boots in the night; and when he found them, he wanted to know what they had done to them,—they had spoiled them,—he never put that stuff on them; and the bootblack narrowly escaped paying damages.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
