Feltham - Local Government and Politics

Local Government and Politics

The town forms part of Feltham and Heston Parliament constituency and the South West London Assembly constituency. There are two local government wards falling entirely within Feltham - Feltham North and Feltham West - though locals often consider sections of the Hanworth Park and Bedfont wards as forming part of Feltham.

The area was represented in Parliament from 1992-2011 by Alan Keen, MP (Labour). After his death Labour won the by-election with Seema Malhotra.

Famous quotes containing the words local, government and/or politics:

Eclecticism is the degree zero of contemporary general culture: one listens to reggae, watches a western, eats McDonald’s food for lunch and local cuisine for dinner, wears Paris perfume in Tokyo and “retro” clothes in Hong Kong; knowledge is a matter for TV games. It is easy to find a public for eclectic works.
    Jean François Lyotard (b. 1924)

To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical idea.
    James Madison (1751–1836)

Political organizations have slowly substituted themselves for the Churches as the places for believing practices.... Politics has once again become religious.
    Michel de Certeau (1925–1986)
