- Ugandan Bush War: The National Resistance Army, led by Yoweri Museveni began a rebellion against the government of Uganda with an attack on army barracks in the capital, Kampala. The war continued for almost five years before Museveni's forces succeeded in toppling the government and Museveni became President of Uganda.
