Education
The town has two secondary schools: The Purston E-Act Academy and St Wilfrid's Catholic High School and Language College. Formerly known as Featherstone Technology College, the school successfully made the transition to an E-ACT sponsored academy with English and Enterprise specialisms. The Purston E-ACT Academy has recently benefited from new vocational courses which include construction, motor vehicle maintenance, beauty and hairdressing along with state-of-the-art facilities in which to teach these new subjects. In the coming months, a customer service reception will be built along side the other vocational areas, a cyber cafe, outdoor teaching areas and a general refurbishment of the entire school. E-ACT is a leading educational sponsor. The academy aims to become an 'outstanding' educational establishment and promotes the ideology 'nothing but the best' Primary and infant schools include, St. Thomas' Junior School, Girnhill Infants' School, Purston Infants' School, North Featherstone Junior and Infants' School and All Saints Junior and Infants' School.
