In 2011, Green Beret Trey Atwater was detained for attempting to board with a smoke grenade that was confiscated. It was unclear at the time of his later bail hearing if the C4 he was arrested for possessing on his return trip was present and overlooked in his luggage at the time of his confiscation. He was admonished for the grenade but allowed to board his flight to visit his family for Christmas.
