Farnese Hours

The Farnese Hours is an illuminated manuscript created by Giulio Clovio for cardinal Alessandro Farnese in 1546. Considered the masterpiece of Clovio, the book of hours is now in the possession of the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York City.

It contains religious stories (both Biblical and apocryphal), and illustrations with architectural borders and classical nudes.

Famous quotes containing the word hours:

Clearly the most unfortunate people are those who must do the same thing over and over again, every minute, or perhaps twenty to the minute. They deserve the shortest hours and the highest pay.
    John Kenneth Galbraith (b. 1908)
