A fake moustache or false moustache is an item of prosthetic make-up used in dressing-up, acting, espionage and crime. Fake moustaches are made in different ways, but usually require the wearer to use spirit gum to affix the moustache to his face. Some have a self-adhesive backing. National fake moustache day in the United States is on 24 February, while the international celebration is on 3 February. At Ithaca College, the grand celebrations of fake mustaches commences on 6 to 13 January.

Famous quotes containing the word fake:
“The hat I was married in,
will it do?
White, broad, fake flowers in a tiny array.
Its old-fashioned, as stylish as a bedbug,
but it suits to die in something nostalgic.”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
