Faith Lutheran Jr/Sr High School - Rachel's Challenge/Legacy

Rachel's Challenge/Legacy

In 2011-2012, Faith Lutheran introduced a program called Rachel's Challenge. They asked students to sign a poster and accept the challenge. This poster was hung in the Student Center, where it still hangs today. In 2012-2013, they introduced the second half of the program known as Rachel's Legacy. They again asked students to sign a poster and accept the legacy. Just like the first, this poster was hung in the Student Center. Along with it, they hung two smaller posters containing the 5 points of each program which students are encouraged to follow.

Famous quotes containing the words rachel, challenge and/or legacy:

If anyone should want to know my name, I am called Leah. And I spend all my time weaving garlands of flowers with my fair hands, to please me when I stand before the mirror; my sister Rachel sits all the day long before her own, and never moves away. She loves to contemplate her lovely eyes; I love to use my hands to adorn myself: her joy is in reflection, mine in act.
    Dante Alighieri (1265–1321)

I always draw a parallel between oppression by the regime and oppression by men. To me it is just the same. I always challenge men on why they react to oppression by the regime, but then they do exactly the same things to women that they criticize the regime for.
Sethembile N., South African black anti-apartheid activist. As quoted in Lives of Courage, ch. 19, by Diana E. H. Russell (1989)

What is popularly called fame is nothing but an empty name and a legacy from paganism.
    Desiderius Erasmus (c. 1466–1536)
