In 1988 he played a minor role as a villain in his brother Aamir's film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. He went onto play another bit part in his brother's 1992 film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.
He got his first leading role in the 1994 film Madhosh which was produced by his father Tahir Hussain and directed by Vikram Bhatt. The film failed to launch his career as it flopped at the box office. After a five-year hiatus he attempted his comeback to films appearing alongside his brother in Mela (2000) which also failed at the box office. Since then he acted in a few B-grade movies none of which did well. He also appeared in the TV serial Aandhi in 2003 which was inspired by the Rajesh Khanna starrer Kati Patang and he happened to play Rajesh Khanna's role in that serial. His last film was Chand Bhujh Gaya in 2005 after which he has quit acting.

Famous quotes containing the word career:
“It is a great many years since at the outset of my career I had to think seriously what life had to offer that was worth having. I came to the conclusion that the chief good for me was freedom to learn, think, and say what I pleased, when I pleased. I have acted on that conviction... and though strongly, and perhaps wisely, warned that I should probably come to grief, I am entirely satisfied with the results of the line of action I have adopted.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
“They want to play at being mothers. So let them. Expressing tenderness in their own way will not prevent girls from enjoying a successful career in the future; indeed, the ability to nurture is as valuable a skill in the workplace as the ability to lead.”
—Anne Roiphe (20th century)
“What exacerbates the strain in the working class is the absence of money to pay for services they need, economic insecurity, poor daycare, and lack of dignity and boredom in each partners job. What exacerbates it in upper-middle class is the instability of paid help and the enormous demands of the career system in which both partners become willing believers. But the tug between traditional and egalitarian models of marriage runs from top to bottom of the class ladder.”
—Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
