Extended Producer Responsibility - Electronics

Electronics

Many governments and companies have adopted Extended Producer Responsibility to help address the growing problem of e-waste—used electronics contain materials that cannot be safely thrown away with regular household trash. Many governments have partnered with corporations in creating the necessary collection and recycling infrastructure. Some argue that local and manufacturer-supported Extended Producer Responsibility laws give manufacturers greater responsibility for the reuse, recycling, and disposal of their own products.

In the United States, most producer responsibility laws in effect have been passed at the state level, due to unique political circumstances at the federal level. Twenty-five states have already passed laws requiring producer responsibility and many others are currently working towards passing producer responsibility laws.

Famous quotes containing the word electronics:

We live in a highly industrialized society and every member of the Black nation must be as academically and technologically developed as possible. To wage a revolution, we need competent teachers, doctors, nurses, electronics experts, chemists, biologists, physicists, political scientists, and so on and so forth. Black women sitting at home reading bedtime stories to their children are just not going to make it.
