History

• March 1917 - establishment of the Girls' Middle School Attached to Beijing Girls' Normal School, the starting point of the school.
• 1919 - representatives of the school joined the rally on the fourth of May to impede the Chinese recognition of Treaty of Versailles.
• 1924 - Girls' Middle School became subordinated to the newly established Girls' Normal University.
• 1931 - Girls' Normal University and Beijing Normal University integrated. At the time of joining, the school's name was changed to Girls' Middle School Attached to Beijing Normal University.
• 1945 - the Party branch and general Party branch were successively founded in Girls' Middle School Attached to Beijing Normal University in July 1945 and August 1946.
• 1949 and 1952 - Girl Student' Section of North China YuCai Middle School, Private Wen Hua Girls Middle School and North China Middle School were integrated into the school. The school was moved to No.14, Erlong Road, XiCheng District.
• 1955 - the name of the school was changed to Beijing Experimental High School and placed under the administration of the Ministry of Education. The event was commemorated by having the school name written in Chinese calligraphy by Guo Moruo, a Chinese writer. It was classified as a key school of Beijing in 1956.
• 1961 - school pioneered teaching reform of five-year middle school (three years for junior middle school and two years for senior middle school) nationwide under the leadership of Central Publicity Department and Ministry of Education.
• 1964 - school returned to the administration of Beijing Normal University and resumed the former name the Girls' Middle School Attached to Beijing Normal University.
• 1968 - boy students were admitted, marking an end to the 50-year history of the girls' school.
• 1972 - school was named Beijing No.150 Middle School, under the administration of Xi Cheng District of Beijing.
• 1978 - school became subordinated to Beijing Normal University with the present name Experimental Middle School Attached to Beijing Nrmal University, and resumed the title of Beijing Municipal Top School.
• 1980 - school started a Computer Science.
• 1983 - school was determined by the Ministry of Education as an experimental field in implementing course outlines for Middle School Moral Education.
• 1984 - school pioneered nationwide curriculum reform on the basis of curricular teaching and combining curricular and extracurricular activities.
• 1986 - school conducted experiments in the implementation of Middle School Civics Education Reform, a key research topic of the state Seventh Five-Year Plan.
• 1989 - the junior school Chinese textbooks compiled by the school teachers since 1978 were approved by the Ministry of Education as experimental textbooks nationwide. In 1992, approved by the Ministry of Education, the textbooks were spread nationwide as trial editions for junior middle schools in implementing nine-year compulsory education and are now widely used in Beijing.
• 1991 - senior school Chinese textbooks, compiled by school teachers and used as trial editions school wide, were approved by the Ministry of Education to be officially published.
• 1994 - school was classified by the Beijing Educational Bureau as a model school of all-around education. Approved by Beijing Education Commission, the school became one of the two privileged schools to organize its own Exit Exams for senior graduates.
• 1995 - school was classified as an advanced school in research of educational science.
• 1995 - school was evaluated as a model school in promotion of public health. It was awarded the Bronze Medal in 1996, the Silver Medal in 1997 and the Gold Medal in 2000.
• 1997 - Al Gore, the former vice-president of the USA, paid a visit to the school, and discussed with students the implementation of his Global Program. Also in March, the Great Hall of the People witnessed the establishment ceremony of Beijing Concord College of Sino-Canada, a joint-venture high school con-run by Educational Department of Brunswick Province, Canadian Crown International Group and the school.
• 1998 - school was classified by the Ministry of Education as an experimental school in implementing modern educational technology among national primary and middle schools. In May the same year, the Branch School of Experimental School was established on the former site of No.37 middle School.
• 1999 - Mrs. Anna, wife of Mr. Kofi Annan who acts as Secretary General of the United Nations came to visit the school.
• 2000 - Beijing Experimental Jin Hui Network Tech Company Limited, co-run by Hong Kong Gao Yang Corporation and the school, was established.
• 2000 - school passed evaluation of the first six Beijing-based model high schools, and was highly praised by education experts.
• 2004 - Mr. William Henry Gates paid a visit to the school with sufficient funding for dozens of computers as a donation.
