Rapid 3.0
In 2012, eWAY launched Rapid 3.0, an API which reduces PCI DSS obligations for merchants without redirecting customers away from their websites. The API sends card data directly from the customer’s browser to the gateway without passing it through the merchant’s systems.
Because it features global endpoints, any shopping cart which supports Rapid 3.0 can be used in any of eWAY’s territories. This has become the most popular way to connect to eWAY.
In addition to one-off payments, the API has the following capabilities:
- Beagle Alerts compares transactions to a database of card activity to prevent fraud.
- Beagle (free) uses GEO-IP tools to block or flag suspicious transactions.
- 3-D Secure requests a PIN from customers who are enrolled in Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode before processing their transactions.
- Token Payments allows merchants to sell subscriptions or memberships, and lets customers pay without re-entering their card numbers.
