History
eWAY was founded in 1998 when CEO Matt Bullock was engaged to create a payment gateway for a large insurer. The success of the project prompted Bullock to start designing payment gateways for other businesses.
eway.com.au was launched in 2000. By 2004, eWAY was linked to all major Australian banks. In 2008 the company reported growth of 47%, and in 2009 the company expanded by a further 65%.
In 2011, eWAY was launched in the United Kingdom. By 2012, it was linked to HSBC, Elavon, BarclayCard, and all other major banks. The company's client list includes Qantas, Canon, Setanta Sports, McDonald’s and 3M.
