Sequel
The next film in the series, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, was previewed in a trailer following the credits, continuing the story with the introduction of Asuka Langley Shikinami, a new character, redesigned Eva units, and hints of a new storyline. The film was released in Japan on June 27, 2009. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan on May 26, 2010 with the title Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance.
