Eureka Maru - Ship Technical Aspects

Ship Technical Aspects

The Eureka Maru is a slipstream-capable cargo ship and is armed with lasers and missiles, and has a three engine thrust system.

Beka has spoken to the Maru on many occasions throughout the series, and in episode 18 of season 4, the Maru appears to creak in response, despite the ship's lack of artificial intelligence. The Maru computer system responds to commands and inquiries in a manner similar to modern day computers, although it is primarily accessed through vocal commands.

The Maru is about 42 metres in length, judged by the scale of people against it as seen in episode 8 of season 5. It weighs approximately 12,000 tonnes.

Famous quotes containing the words ship, technical and/or aspects:

    A ship has a soul.
John Rhodes Sturdy, Canadian screenwriter. Richard Rossen. “Stooky” O’Meara (Barry Fitzgerald)

Woman is the future of man. That means that the world which was once formed in man’s image will now be transformed to the image of woman. The more technical and mechanical, cold and metallic it becomes, the more it will need the kind of warmth that only the woman can give it. If we want to save the world, we must adapt to the woman, let ourselves be led by the woman, let ourselves be penetrated by the Ewigweiblich, the eternally feminine!
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)

That anger can be expressed through words and non-destructive activities; that promises are intended to be kept; that cleanliness and good eating habits are aspects of self-esteem; that compassion is an attribute to be prized—all these lessons are ones children can learn far more readily through the living example of their parents than they ever can through formal instruction.
    Fred Rogers (20th century)
