Erin Mills Town Centre - History

History

Erin Mills Town Centre was built on a land that was originally accumulated by E. P. Taylor's Don Mills Developments in 1954. The mall opened in 1989 and was owned and managed by Cadillac Fairview until it was purchased by the Ontario Pension Board in 2010 for $370 million. There is a large clock tower at the centre of the mall. There once was a Cineplex Odeon movie theatre, but was closed in 2000 and was replaced with Old Navy and Sport Chek. The mall also once had a mini-golf course located near the centre court, but it was later converted into retail space. In addition, there was a Daycare which got replaced to retail space in 2005.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

In the history of the human mind, these glowing and ruddy fables precede the noonday thoughts of men, as Aurora the sun’s rays. The matutine intellect of the poet, keeping in advance of the glare of philosophy, always dwells in this auroral atmosphere.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

There has never been in history another such culture as the Western civilization M a culture which has practiced the belief that the physical and social environment of man is subject to rational manipulation and that history is subject to the will and action of man; whereas central to the traditional cultures of the rivals of Western civilization, those of Africa and Asia, is a belief that it is environment that dominates man.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)

The only history is a mere question of one’s struggle inside oneself. But that is the joy of it. One need neither discover Americas nor conquer nations, and yet one has as great a work as Columbus or Alexander, to do.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)
