Environmental Health Perspectives - Social Media

Social Media

EHP publishes a monthly podcast series called "The Researcher's Perspective". Podcasts center around research and news published in the journal, and guests discuss the motivation and vision behind their research and its implications for human health.

Through its presence on Twitter and Facebook, EHP publicizes new content, appearances at meetings, and news items of interest to the environmental health community. It also uses these platforms to engage with the public and increase awareness of environmental health issues.

Famous quotes containing the words social and/or media:

Nearly all the Escapists in the long past have managed their own budget and their social relations so unsuccessfully that I wouldn’t want them for my landlords, or my bankers, or my neighbors. They were valuable, like powerful stimulants, only when they were left out of the social and industrial routine.
    Willa Cather (1876–1947)

One can describe a landscape in many different words and sentences, but one would not normally cut up a picture of a landscape and rearrange it in different patterns in order to describe it in different ways. Because a photograph is not composed of discrete units strung out in a linear row of meaningful pieces, we do not understand it by looking at one element after another in a set sequence. The photograph is understood in one act of seeing; it is perceived in a gestalt.
Joshua Meyrowitz, U.S. educator, media critic. “The Blurring of Public and Private Behaviors,” No Sense of Place: The Impact of Electronic Media on Social Behavior, Oxford University Press (1985)
