Famous quotes containing the words endeavour and/or field:
“We endeavour more that men should speak of us, than how and what they speak, and it sufficeth us that our name run in men’s mouths, in what manner soever. It seemeth that to be known is in some sort to have life and continuance in other men’s keeping.”
—Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)
“The poet will write for his peers alone. He will remember only that he saw truth and beauty from his position, and expect the time when a vision as broad shall overlook the same field as freely.”
—Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
