End Time

End time (also called end times, end of days, last days or eschaton) is a time period described in the eschatological writings of the dominant world religions in both Abrahamic and non-Abrahamic traditions.

In Judaism the term "end of days" is a reference to the Messianic Age, and includes an ingathering of the exiled diaspora, the coming of the mashiach, olam haba, and resurrection of the Tsadikim.

In Islam, the Day of Resurrection, or Yawm ad-Din, the Day of Judgement, is preceded by the return of Dajjal and the end of the world.

In Christianity, end time is depicted as a time of tribulation that precedes the second coming of Jesus Christ, who will face the emergence of the Antichrist and usher in the Kingdom of God.

In Hinduism, end time is foretold as when in which the final incarnation of Vishnu, Kalki will have a terrible battle with Kali, which will bring an end to the current age of darkness, and usher in an era of humanity.

In Buddhism, the Buddha predicted that his teachings would be forgotten after 5,000 years, followed by a period of turmoil. After this time, a bodhisattva named Maitreya will appear and rediscover the teaching of dharma.

Various other religions also have eschatological beliefs associated with turning and redemption.

Since the advent of modern science in the 18th century, the discovery of deep time, and the age of the Earth, the concept of an end of days has been replaced in contemporary discourse with questions about the ultimate fate of the universe. Most scientists believe that the "end of the world" will finally occur hundreds of billions of years from now with the heat death of the universe.
