- Application selection
- Initiate application processing
- Read application data
- Processing restrictions
- Offline data authentication
- Cardholder verification
- Terminal risk management
- Terminal action analysis
- First card action analysis
- Online transaction authorisation (only carried out if required by the result of the previous steps; mandatory in ATMs)
- Second card action analysis
- Issuer script processing.
