Fake EMule Sites and Malware

Due to the popularity and open source nature of eMule, some third-parties have created modified versions of it, which frequently contain spyware and other malware programs. Some fake sites ask for credit card information or require you to sign up for a paid membership. The official eMule is free.

These versions are usually found via rotating advertisements sometimes placed on legitimate sites.

Famous quotes containing the word fake:

Kitsch is the daily art of our time, as the vase or the hymn was for earlier generations. For the sensibility it has that arbitrariness and importance which works take on when they are no longer noticeable elements of the environment. In America kitsch is Nature. The Rocky Mountains have resembled fake art for a century.
    Harold Rosenberg (1906–1978)
