Elijah Clark State Park

Elijah Clark State Park is a 447 acre (1.81 kmĀ²) Georgia state park located in Lincolnton, on the western shore of Lake Strom Thurmond. The park is named for Elijah Clarke, a frontiersman and Revolutionary War hero who led a force of pioneers in Georgia during the American Revolution. A newly renovated log cabin displays furniture and tools dating back to 1780. The park is also the site of the graves of Clark and his wife Hannah. The park's location on the lake makes it a haven for fishermen.

Famous quotes containing the words clark, state and/or park:

I believe that Harmon would be the easiest to defeat, though he might gain much strength from the Republicans. Clark would surely lose New York. I am beginning to feel that by some stroke of genius they may name Woodrow Wilson, and that seems a pretty hard tussle.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

A state of war or anarchy, in which law has little force, is so far valuable, that it puts every man on trial. The man of principle is known as such, and even in the fury of faction is respected.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The park is filled with night and fog,
The veils are drawn about the world,
    Sara Teasdale (1884–1933)
